"Trust, Trust in the Lord,
Lean not on your own understanding,
In all, all of your ways acknowledge Him
and He'll make your paths straight."
We've all heard this song, or even sang it in our churches but have we ever sat down and thought about what these words mean? What are we saying?!?
And yet can you/we truly say...yeah, I trust in God.
I thought I could. Through anything I said of course I can trust in You. But see here's the bottom line I believe. Here in America, we have everything we need, food, shelter, friends, education, and many freedoms. So why must we trust? Have we gone without food, shelter, etc.? Have we been in that place where we must rely on someone else other than ourselves? I don't think so, I mean as kids we do, but than comes the testing ground where our parents give us a little more freedom and we get things like jobs. Than we head to college and most of us have to work our way though.
This last 4 months have been some of the hardest months of my life. After 5 years of working a steady job, I was laid off. JUST LIKE THAT. And just like that my trusting point came into play. Its easy to trust a God when you have all your needs provided and nothing is want. Money kind of affects everything though...where you go because you have to buy gas. In college buying things you need in the dorms. Dear me, was I in a jam.
As I struggled out these months with the help of my supporting family I realized...Trusitng God is a lot harder than it looks, not just for money but for life in general. As I look back I realize that this struggling of emotions and lack of finacial stability drew me closer to God, made me TRUST in my Father. I saw my God provide in ways that I had only dreamed or heard about.
Think about your life, in what areas are you trusting God in? What areas do you just THINK you are?
How can you change this?
I'm still working on trusting God, but one things for sure, I do know that my God provides. :)
