MRHP: The College Years Hmmm.....so THAT'S PRAYER!

So this past week and a half I have been comtemplating on the most important aspect of our Christian walk...PRAYER.

*So why do I think it's one of the most important aspects? Because of it's definition. Prayer is a two-way conversation with God! Can you imagine having a conversation with the God of the heavens? It's awe inspiring. It's life changing. To think that the God of the universe wants to talk with me, a sinful human that never can seem to do anything right. When we pray we take a step towards God, now this is only accomplished by the discipline of not only talking but listening. In order for us to get this we must understand two aspects: 1) God is near us when we prayer, and 2)God hears us when we pray.
1) God is near us when we pray,
"What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?" (Deuteronomy 4:7)
Doesn't this just make us confused? Don't we all remember that time where we prayed and thought that God was not there? And yet, despite that fact that we may feel this way, it's not true! When we pray our God is near/with us!
Just imagine Him sitting across from you at a quaint little cafe in town?!
Listing....Talking....WITH YOU.

2)God hears us when we pray.
Remember the story of Hannah praying in the temple? God answered her prayer with the birth of Samuel. Everything in our life we could sit down and remember the times that God answered our prayers! Isn't it great! We have a God who is alive and because of this, he answers our prayers!

^When we remember these two aspect than it helps us grow in our prayer relationship with God.
Now prayer is 2-fold, it's listening and speaking.

It's okay to talk to God, but when we forget that God wants to speak, we have a problem. So don't ever forget that God is speaking.
