Life and Death...

This time of season all Christians are usually in the mindset that Jesus is the reason for the season and see this as a joyful time. And what a wonderful time it truly is, Matthew says,
And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.

Glorious time to celebrate the birth of the one who was to save us.

This season a very interesting thought hit me, that I had never thought of before. Christmas is about life and death. Yeah, I know, strange thought. But in a way it's commpletely true. In Christ's birth one finds life, but only through Christ's death. Even though it's not Easter sunday, doesn't mean it wasn't about life and death. This brings around such an important question, do we understand the meaning of Christmas? Do we understand this sacrifice? Wow! What a picture of the heart of God. A God that understands life and death.

This life and death is/was more than physical but a spiritual life/death that is for eternity. What a crucial descion! Yet, God's love provailed and sought death on a Cross to bring us life.

So this Christmas season as you celebrate the birth of our Saviour ask yourself, "Do I understand the sacrifice of life and death?"
